JAY BUTLER

AREA REPRESENTATIVE, GREATER ROCHESTER

Jay began serving with the FCA at the Kutztown, PA Sports Camp in 1998. After joining FCA staff from 2005 to 2007 while living in Louisiana, he returned to staff in 2023 while residing in Florida.

A three-sport letterwinner at Castleton State College in cross country, basketball, and tennis, Jay pursued athletics for both personal development and a love of competition. That passion led to a 21-year career as a college women’s basketball coach across all three NCAA divisions, along with three years coaching both men’s and women’s tennis.

Born and raised in North Bergen, New Jersey, Jay’s coaching and athletic director journey has taken him to nine states and 10 different universities. Along the way, he discovered the powerful intersection of faith and sports, realizing how God could use him as a Christian coach to influence the lives of student-athletes on and off the field.

Now focused on FCA's Coaches Ministry, Jay is committed to coming alongside coaches—encouraging them in their leadership and guiding them in their Christian walk and service.

Outside of ministry, Jay enjoys hiking, cycling, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. His life verse is Jeremiah 29:11.
